An Autryville man is facing three serious drug charges after agents discovered marijuana plants growing in his yard Wednesday evening.
Derrick Dwight Jackson, 32, of 668 Madeline Lane, Autryville, was charged with manufacturing marijuana; maintaining a dwelling/vehicle/place for a controlled substance; and possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to reports from the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, agents with the Special Investigations Division were in the area of Jackson’s home Sept. 19, when they noticed what they believed was a marijuana plant in Jackson’s yard.
After seeing the plant in an open area, agents secured and executed a search warrant later in the afternoon, around 5 p.m. In all, they uncovered a total of six marijuana plants in the yard and immediately took Jackson into custody without incident.
He was taken to the Sampson County Detention Center, given a $10,000 bond and a trial date of Sept. 28.
According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, Jackson has no previous convictions.
