A Wade woman is facing dozens of felony charges, with many more possible, after officers linked her to a crime tn the northern part of Sampson County over the weekend.

Megan Lauren Wrench, 22, of 7147 Lee Ave., Wade, was charged with felony larceny; possession of stolen goods; 31 counts of forgery; 31 counts of uttering a forged instrument; and 31 additonal misdemeanor counts of uttering a forged instrument.

Wrench was arrested Tuesday at a residence located in the 100 block of Wrench Road, around 8:40 p.m.

According to detective Clark Wilkes, through interviews and witnesses, Wrench became the suspect in a breaking and entering that took place late Friday night at a home near Wrench Road. Taken in the crime was a lock box containing documents, cash, credit cards and checks.

“We were investigating the victim’s report and found probable cause to take out the warrants for the larceny,” the detective explained.

However, by Monday, the victim reported that the stolen checks and credit cards had been used. Wilkes said that is when they discovered that over 31 charges had been made to the victim’s account.

“There were more,” he said, “but we are still investigating those other ones.”

More charges could filed in the case, he added.

Wrench was placed under a $47,500 secured bond and a trial date of Aug. 3 was set.

According to the North Carolina Department of Corrections, she has no previous convictions.
