Clinton High School student Jamison Kidd was recognized during Clinton City Schools’ May board meeting as the recipient of the prestigious Pat Gainey Award from the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (see a full story later this week in The Sampson Independent). To be considered, Kidd had to have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, have a clean disciplinary record in both school and athletics, and have demonstrated athletic success. Beating out other student athletes from across the state, Kidd received a $2,000 scholarship award and commemorative plaque.
