TURKEY — One town’s loss is another one’s gain, or so it seems. Teresa Frack resigned this past week from Garland so she could accept the clerk’s position in Turkey.

In a special called meeting Monday, Oct. 29, the Turkey town board voted to hire Frack to replace the retiring Sarah White, current town clerk. According to Turkey mayor Tim Clifton, the vote was unanimous.

“We received 14 resumes for the position of town clerk to replace Sarah. After the board examined the resumes, it was decided to interview four candidates. One did not show up and we selected Teresa after the interviews. It was our decision that she was the best qualified and best suited for our town to serve as our new clerk,” remarked Clifton.

The mayor added that Frack would work under White as deputy clerk until White completes her duties on Dec. 28 when she will retire.

In a phone interview, Frack stated that she was very excited to be chosen to fill the position of town clerk for Turkey.

“I love working at town hall. I am just so excited and look so forward to working with the Turkey Town Board and Mayor Clifton, as well as getting to know all the great people of Turkey,” expressed Frack.

The new clerk, a resident of Clinton, has over 31 years of experience working with various towns. She shared that she started working in Lewisburg, W. Va.She shared that this would be her first time as the actual town clerk, but noted that she has served as deputy clerk several times.

Frack said she was up to the task of town clerk.

“I love working where I can be of an assistance to people. Being Turkey’s town clerk will give me an opportunity to do that for the town’s citizens. I can’t wait to get started and get to know the people of the town,” stated Frack.

Frack will assume her duties as deputy clerk on Wednesday, Nov. 14 and remain in that position until the first of the year when she will be the town clerk following White’s retirement.

White announced her retirement in the September meeting effective Dec. 28. She shared at that time she was at the point in her life when she wanted to accept different challenges and spend more time with her family.

Clifton expressed that the board was pleased with the number of applicants and was very pleased with the decision and acceptance of Frack to pick up when White retires.
