A 40-year-old Roseboro man is facing seven felonies after being linked to two separate break-ins that took place earlier this month in the county.
Carl Earl Andre Wiggins, 40, of 104 W. North St., was charged with two counts of breaking and entering; two counts of larceny; two counts of possession of stolen goods; larceny of firearm; and possession of a stolen firearm by a felon.
According to reports released Wednesday by the Sampson County Sheriff’s Office, Wiggins was taken into custody after being suspected in two crimes that took place at separate residences, near Turkey, on Aug. 16. Taken from one residence was a television; a microwave oven; a refrigerator; two cell phones; a house phone; cash; and a handbag. At the other location, stolen was a 42-inch television valued at $700; three laptops valued at $1,850; jewelry; a .380-caliber pistol; and DVD movies.
After a brief investigation, Wiggins was named the prime suspect in the case and warrants were issued for his arrest. He was taken into custody the next day, on Friday, Aug. 17, at his home.
He was taken to the Sampson County Detention Center, charged and given a $20,000 secured bond and a trial date of Aug. 31.
According to the N.C. Department of Corrections, Wiggins has a history of convictions dating back to 1991. Those convictions include: receiving stolen goods (March 1991); assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury and discharging a firearm (July 1991); unauthorized use of a motor conveyance (April 1994); misdemeanor breaking and entering (July 1994); driving while impaired (September 1994); assault, driving with license revoked, resisting a police officer, trespassing and possession of drug paraphernalia (all from November 1995); possession with intent to sell a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of a Schedule II controlled substance (April 1997); felony breaking and entering and larceny (May 1998); possession of stolen goods, possession of stolen goods, and larceny from a person (October 2000); driving with license revoked, resisting an officer, reckless driving, operating a motor vehicle without a license, improper vehicle equipment (all from November 2006); felony breaking and entering (May 2007); and larceny over $1,000 (February 2009).
