Man facing mutiple drug charges

A Benson man is behind bars after being charged with selling drugs in Sampson County following an undercover drug operation on June 6.

Riley Romance Ross, 24, of 1302 Chicopee Road, Benson, was charged with two counts of selling marijuana; and two counts of delivering marijuana.

According to reports released Monday, he sold marijuana to an undercover drug agent in June during the operation that took place in the northern part of the county.

Ross was picked up at his home by the Sampson County Sheriff’s deputies and Benson Police Thursday around 5:30 p.m.

He was transported to the Sampson County Magistrate’s Office and charged. Ross was given a $5,000 secured bond and made his first court appearance Friday.

Separate drug arrests

Two other Sampson County residents were also charged with drugs Thursday in separate traffic stops.

Rayford Bennett, Jr., 26,of 288 MB Bennett Lane, was charged with selling and delivering a Schedule II controlled substance after being pulled over near his home Thursday afternoon.

Bennett was given a $2,500 bond.

Timothy Lucas, 31, of 125 Lee’s Chapel Road, was charged with simple possession of a Schedule VI controlled substance. Lucas, who was also charged Thursday afternoon, was cited and given a trial date of Aug. 27.
