Piney Grove Ruritan Club meets
The Piney Grove Ruritan Club met on June 21. President Doug Blackman opened the meeting and everyone enjoyed a very good meal. Blackman led a discussion of future fundraisers and projects. They planned their quarterly highway trash pickup for June 30. Special guests were Zone Two Governor Billy Cavenaugh and his wife, Evelene; and Past District Governor Charles Westmoreland and his wife, Jeffrie. Roger Peterson, member and Cape Fear District Foundation chairman, gave a presentation to the club regarding the Foundation. The Club meets every third Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Piney Grove Ruritan Club Building on Giddensville Road, Faison. Anyone interested in attending a meeting or becoming a member, call 910-267-1001. Hobbton Class of '77 holds reunion
The Hobbton High School Class of 1977 held its 35th reunion at Hong Kong City in Clinton on June 30. There were 20 members present out of the class of 95 graduates.  Members Present:  Terry Lee, Craig Warren, Bobby Fryar, Jesse Bell, Odean Fields, Michael Mozingo, Ronnie Brewer(Class Salutatorian), Ray Best(Class Valedictorian), Keith Warwick, Rufus Honeycutt, Jeff Warren, Ronnie Daughtry, Emanuel "Peanut" Cheatham, Vanessa Hill, Terry Thornton Bryant, Robin Armwood, Doris Simmons Peoples, Lisa Edwards Calcutt, Leigh Sumner and Denise Brewer Bullard.
