Local Scouts plant flowers
Pack 27 Webelos Cub Scouts planted flowers as a service project at Graves Memorial Presbyterian Church. The Scouts were learning about citizenship and they decided to volunteer their time in planting tulips for everyone to enjoy. The Garland Community Center, complete with new sign, could soon see its first regular tenant since the Garland Head Start site was closed last year. The building has been utilized for N.C. STEP meetings, but a request by Whitted Taekwondo was approved this week that could see revenue raised for the town.

A Sampson County man has found out the hard way that threats, a knife and a school campus are a recipe for jail.
