For the third year now, Newton Grove United Methodist Church is sponsoring the Walk in the Park fundraiser to benefit U Care, the local, private nonprofit that helps victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse. Clinton High School student Jamison Kidd was recognized during Clinton City Schools' May board meeting as the recipient of the prestigious Pat Gainey Award from the NCHSAA. To be considered, Kidd had to have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher, have a clean disciplinary record in both school and athletics, and have demonstrated athletic success. Revving up learning Third grade students in Sandra Ward’s class recently completed a race car project. Students were to design and create a balloon powered race car. The goal was to obtain maximum speed and distance. They were given materials such as cardboard, toothpicks, straws, and balloons to get started. The challenge was for students to design the body of the car and ‘invent’ wheels from other materials. A local business is back in the news again after a fight between some eight people ended in the arrest of three.
