Central Baptist begins expansion On Easter Sunday, April 8, Central Baptist Church in the Plain View community broke ground in preparation for the expansion of their Tabernacle. The groundbreaking was the culmination of a great weekend of Celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ with Communion services on Good Friday; the annual KidCentral event, Easter Eggstreme, with 10,000 eggs falling from a helicopter; their first Easter Sunrise service, as well as worship services at the Student Center, Theater Campus, Chapel and Tabernacle. Currently seating around 1,000, the expansion will add another 500 seats to what was intended to be a temporary worship facility. The Tabernacle (seen in the background), built in 2001, was planned to be a multi-use building until a larger more permanent structure could be built. With the current economic status, adding on to their existing facilities is better use of the resources God has provided than beginning a new structure. The additional seating will be added to the each side of the current worship facility as stadium seating. A wide screen is planned to be added for better viewing from the new seats. Building will take place in 2012 with plans for completion in the Fall.
