Local DAR chapter honors students The Richard Clinton Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution honored local high school students who were chosen as the Good Citizen of their school. Mrs. Carl Barr hosted the annual Martha Washington Tea to honor the students.
Steven Lee Williamson of Clinton High School and his parents, and Harrells Christian Academy recipient Cory Levings and her mother attended the event. Other student honorees were unable to attend.
Older American Month celebration May 23 at the Center I hope everyone had a great Mother’s Day. God blessed us with a beautiful day to honor our mothers. We did a special salute to all of the mothers here at the center. We dedicated songs of ‘yesteryear to them. They appreciated the words of praise. They enjoyed the ice cream and cake that was served. On Saturday, April 13, members of the Delta Gems, a program sponsored by Delta Sigma Theta Sorority for young people, was given a lesson on social graces by Soror Hazel Colwell and a lesson on social media by Soror Katrina Boykin. They learned a lot about table etiquette and the proper use of cell phones and computers.
A birthday gift Rosemary Hunter wanted to do something special for her 66th birthday, something that would be her gift to others.
Armed with that desire, the Sampson Regional pediatric nurse, along with a few of her close friends, headed downtown Clinton to Bill’s Beauty Shop where Hunter offered up 12 inches of her black and gray tresses, a sacrifice so cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy would have an opportunity at wigs designed just for them.
