Raiders slip past Leopards in final inning
In a game that began on Friday, the Midway Raiders ended it with a run in the bottom of the 7th on Monday. The game between Midway and the visiting Lakewood Leopards had been suspended in the 4th inning on Friday due to stormy weather. The Raiders came away with a 4-3 win. Hobbton Middle’s Wildcats and Midway Middle’s Raiders took to the field for a soccer match Monday, one that ended in a 1-1 tie. Midway’s girls got on in the first 13 minutes of the game when E. Both Midway teams take home gold in county meet
The Midway Raiders hosted the last track meet of the regular season on Thursday. Midway’s boys and girls teams both captured victories. In the boys’ meet, the Raiders posted 80 points. Union was the runner-up with 60 points. Pender and James Kenan scored 42 and 24 respectively. First place runners for Midway included Caleb Sanders, winning the 1600 meter run with a time of 5:01. The Midway/Lakewood junior varsity baseball teams managed to get their game in before the bad weather struck on Friday, forcing the varsity to finish their game on Monday. Hobbton Middle gets another soccer win
Hobbton came away with their second win of the week at Union Middle Thursda. The final score was 1-0 on a penalty kick by Lexi Mincy. The Union Spartan soccer team squeaked by the Hobbton Wildcats Friday night, 4-3. The Union Spartans’ softball team edged out the Hobbton Wildcats Friday night, 6-4, with a late game rally. “They jumped out with a 4-0 lead on us.
