Clinton’s junior varsity soccer team picked up its second win of the season with a 2-0 shutout of East Duplin on Tuesday afternoon. The Dark Horses controlled the first half of the opening frame of a very physical match with Sammy Sutter heading in the only goal of the half off a corner kick.

Jared Stephenson got a break away goal late in the second half to put some distance between the Horses and Panthers and the Clinton defense stood strong to bring home the victory.

“I am proud of the boys, they moved the ball well,” head coach Mitchell Brewington said. “I thought we adapted to their physical play really well and the guys didn’t get rattled by it. This is a good win, but we have a lot of work left to do.”

The win improves the Junior Varsity’s record to 2-0 on the year. The Dark Horses will take the field again on Aug. 30 at 4:30 p.m. when they travel to North Brunswick.
