The Lady Raiders volleyball team continued their quest to remain unbeaten in the Four County Conference on Wednesday night by defeating Wallace-Rose Hill, 3-1, on the Bulldogs’ home turf. The Bulldogs jumped out to a first set win, but the Raiders would roar back and win the final three sets.
Coach Whitney Lamm said it was a great win.
“It was truly a team effort. Everyone played their part and executed their role well. Wallace is a good team and we knew it would be tough to beat them a second time and on their turf,” Lamm stated. “They have some big hitters, a great setter and play good defense. But, we wanted this win and it showed.”
The coach said that Alyssa Wrench, Madee Royal and Leah Williams played “exceptional volleyball” and continue to be solid, while the whole team performs well around them. It was a complete team effort, she said.
“Hailey Brook West hit the ball hard, Logan Baggett played great defense and served well, Blythe Best served very well, our setters did a great job of moving the ball around and finding our big hitters,” Lamm said. “Rachel Hodges had several blocks (and) Hannah Lucas was swinging hard from the front line.”
Baggett led the Lady Raiders with 18 serve points, seven aces, seven digs, one kill and one assisted block.Williams produced 23 digs, four serve points, one ace and one kill. Mackenzie Chavis added 12 assists, 10 serve points, one ace and one dig. Wrench smacked 10 kills, 10 digs, five solo blocks; Best served up 11 points, including three aces; and Byrd had 11 assists and 10 serve points.
Midway is now 18-0 and 9-0 in conference play will host Trask on Tuesday.
