The Clinton boys’ basketball team are on a roll winning two consecutive games. The played their first conference game of the season on Wednesday night at Pender, coming away with a 73-58 Four County Conference win.
The Horses opened the first half with a 19-16 lead. Pender heated up in the second quarter with each team supplying 13 points each. The Horses would go into the locker room with a 32-29 lead at the half.
Clinton would come out on fire in the third frame, outscoring Pender by 24-16. They would also go on to outscore the Pats 17-13 in the fourth frame to take the win.
J.J. Robertson led the Horses with 20 points, while Chris Williams also scored in double figures with 14. Dewan Lesane scored nine points and hauled in 13 boards and handed out three assists. Trevon Leggett also pulled down eight boards and had five blocked shots.
Rodney Hansley led Pender with 24 points.
With the win, Clinton’s record extends to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in the Four County Conference. Coach Randy Jordan said following the game it was a good win.
“We have the entire team together playing with a lot of energy,” noted Jordan.
The Horses will play East Bladen on Friday night in Elizabethtown.
