The Clinton Dark Horses paid a visit to Elizabethtown on Friday night for a meeting on the hardwood. East Bladen kept the game close but in the end the Horses would pull away taking a 58-45 Four County Conference win.

Clinton led 28-20 at the end of the first half. In the third quarter, both teams scored 10 points each to maintain a 8-point lead. They would pull away in the fourth quarter outscoring East Bladen 20-15.

“It was an ugly game,” said Coach Randy Jordan.

“Have to give credit to East Bladen on their gameplan to keep the game at a slow pace. We made some adjustments and played strong and very physical. At halftime, we made some adjustments and found a way to win. Rebounding was also a major key to our win,” noted Jordan.

J.J. Robertson led the Horses with 10 points. Dewan Lesane and Jaden Bell had nine points each and Mike Kramer added eight. Lesane also pulled down 10 rebounds. Kramer hauled down eight and Trevor Leggett and Tymair McIntyre each had seven.

Clinton’s record is now 5-2 overall and 2-0 in the conference.

They will play at Hobbton on Monday at 7 p.m. The winner will face the Hobbton-East Duplin winner on Tuesday.
