Hobbton falls to Spring Creek

The Hobbton men’s basketball team hosted Spring Creek on Tuesday night in Carolina 1A basketball action. The Wildcats had a tough, physical game against the visiting Gators as Hobbton came up on the wrong end of a 55-35 final score.

Spring Creek jumped out to a 10-2 lead in the first three minutes of the game and would reach the 15-6 lead at the end of the first quarter. Matters only got worse for Hobbton in the second quarter as the Gators extended the margin to 19 points by the halftime break, at 34-15.

In the third quarter, Spring Creek tacked on 13 more points to maintain its margin, leading 47-25 as the game progressed to the fourth quarter. In the fourth and final quarter, Hobbton was unable to make any magic happen as Spring Creek would go on to secure the win, 55-35.

After the game, Hobbton head coach Alfonza Hooper was unavailable for comment.

Omar Farrior led the Wildcat effort with 19 points. Raekwon Bryant added six.

With the loss, the Wildcats fall to 9-9 overall and 5-3 in the conference. Hobbton was scheduled to travel to Lakewood on Wednesday night followed by a trip to Princeton on Friday night.
