Clinton defeats Bartlett-Yancey, 68-58, to win Eastern Crown

The Clinton Lady Dark Horses basketball team is State Championship bound. The Lady Horses overcame a slow start in the first half to defeat the Bartlett-Yancey Lady Buccaneers, 68-58, to win the NCHSAA 2A Girls Basketball Eastern Regional Championship held at Methodist University in Fayetteville.

Clinton trailed at the end of the first quarter 15-10 but came alive in the second quarter to take a 30-26 halftime lead.

The Lady Dark Horses continued strong play in the second half as they built a double-digit lead by the end of the third quarter at 53-40.

In the fourth quarter, Clinton led by as much as 61-47 before hanging on for the 68-58 victory.

Clinton will play in the State Championship game on Saturday, March 11. Game time, location, and opponent is to be determined.
