The Midway Middle School baseball team finished up the regular season this week, concluding with two wins.
First on Monday, the Raiders hosted the Hobbton Wildcats and came out on top with dominating 16-1 victory.
Sawyer Sutton got the win pitching four innings, striking out 10 batters and allowing only one hit and one run. At the plate Sutton was two for three with two runs and Jackson Lee went two for two with two runs.
The second game of the week was Tuesday as Midway Middle visited Sampson Middle and defeated the Dark Horses 9-2.
The Raiders got a stellar pitching performance from Dawson Wiggins, who pitched five innings, striking out 11 batters and allowing only one run off no hits. Jonathan Cooper came in for the sixth inning, only allowing one run on two hits and one strikeout. Colin Avery closed out the game, striking out two of three batters. At the plate Jackson Lee went three for four with two runs, Tyler Godwin went one for three with two runs and Luke Pondo went two for four with one run and bringing in two key RBIs.
The two wins put the Raiders at 7-1 and victors of the Conference Championship. The first round of the SCMS Tournament will be played on April 25 with Midway hosting Sampson Middle at 4 p.m.
