The Sampson Regional Medical Center Foundation held its 14th Annual Partners for Life Golf Tournament on Thursday, April 27. On the heels of a few rainy days, it turned out to be a beautiful day for 120 golfers.

The 30 teams were golfing for a cause, as proceeds from this year’s tournament will support the purchase of a freestanding sterilizer for the hospital’s operating room. Unlike the standard sterilizer, the freestanding equipment is not dependent on plant steam to function. During times when plant steam is not available, as can happen during extreme weather events or power outages, having a backup sterilizer ensures ability to process all instruments and remain ready for emergency surgical cases.

Sampson Regional Medical Center and its foundation are grateful for the many participants of the golf tournament, it stated in a press release.

The first place winners were: First flight — Han-Dee Hugo’s; Second flight — Crumpler Plastic Pipe; Third flight — Enpuricon; and Fourth flight — Systel.
