Clinton tennis coasts to first regional final

The Clinton High School men’s tennis team advanced to their first ever 2A East Regional Dual Team Final by defeating North Johnston 5-1 on Monday afternoon at North Johnston High School.

Winning their singles matches, all in straight sets, were No. 1 Zach Darden, No. 3 Peter Darden, No. 4 Cooper Brewen, No. 5 Nick Brewen and No. 6 Trevor Leggett. With the match already decided, doubles were not played.

The Dark Horses are now 16-2 on the season and will play the North Carolina School of Science and Math Wednesday at Whippoorwill Park in Durham at 4 p.m.

The winner will advance to the State Championship at the Burlington Tennis Center Saturday morning.
