This Saturday, Clinton High School will once again host their annual Summer Girls Basketball Jamboree.
There are 15 teams slated to participate in the event, including Wallace Rose-Hill, Clinton, Richlands, Spring Creek, Lee County, West Brunswick, Croatan, South Johnston, Union, Southern Wayne, New Hanover, Cleveland, Princeton, Whiteville and Northside.
The Jamboree will be played at the Main Gym and Auxiliary Gym at Clinton High School, and the gym at Sampson Middle School.
The event is to begin at 9 a.m. and will last until 5 p.m.
As for the rules, there will be two 20-minute halves with a running clock. There will be a 3-minute warm-up time and 3 minute halftime break. Each team is allotted two timeouts. The clock will only stop for timeouts throughout the game, up until the 2-minute mark. After the 2-minute mark at the end of the game, it will be played as a regulation game. During the final two minutes, each team will be in the 1-and-1 bonus.
If a player is fouled throughout the game, that team is awarded one point and the ball back.
“This is always a fun day to be a part of,” said Clinton High School’s head coach Chris Owens. “It is a long day, but a very productive day. We are looking forward to Saturday and are hoping for a great turnout.”
Admission to the event is $5, which is good for the entire event.
