Jamboree to kick off football season


The 27th Sampson County Football Jamboree is set for this Friday, Aug. 11, at Clinton High School. The jamboree will start at 7 p.m., with gates open at 6:15 p.m. Clinton, Hobbton, Lakewood, Midway and Union will face off against each other in a ‘round robin’ scrimmage to kick off the 2017 football season. The scrimmage will have two teams on each end of the field with the other team sitting out. Each team will have 10 minutes on offense and 10 minutes of defense in each scrimmage. The first set will be one hour. A 10-minute intermission will follow before one more hour of play. Tickets for the jamboree are $7.
