The Clinton Dark Horses, varsity and JV, were victorious Wednesday night, with both capturing wins over North Johnston.

The junior varsity team would come out on top at North Johnston as they beat them in a shutout game, claiming victory 3-0.

“The JV played very good; this was definitely a big win for our team as they possessed the ball really well and did what they needed to do to win,” said head coach Brad Spell. “They played exceptionally well considering we also have 16 freshmen.”

Johnathan Garcia and Michael Ineseroza were the scorers for the Horses that gave them the win. Garcia ended with one and Ineseroza would finish the night with two goals.

The varsity also won on the road against North Johnston. Although they didn’t shut them out, they were able to claim a decisive 3-1 victory.

“I was really pleased with our overall effort; it was really fantastic. You can tell already that we’re getting better,” said Spell. “Our communication was on point, and we had a lot of hustle which led to our victory.”

Sam Holloman and varsity captain Ivan Ponce were the lead scorers for the Horses, with Holloman scoring two goals and Ponce adding the other.

The Horses look to continue their win streak as they travel to the Battle at the Beach in Holly Ridge Friday, taking on Dixon.

Ivan Ponce scored once in the Clinton Dark Horses’ 3-1 win over North Johnson.
