The Harrells Christian Academy Lady Crusader volleyball team were on their game Thursday as they defeated Cape Fear Academy by a score of 3-1.
The Crusaders scored the first two points of the first set, but then the Rebels came on strong. The score was tied several times throughout the first half of the set, but then the Rebels went on a run and made the score 20-14. After that Cape Fear never looked back and took the first set by a score of 25-18.
The change of courts gave the Crusaders a new outlook in the second game in which they never trailed. Cape Fear kept it close for the first few points but after a hot scoring streak by Abigail Clark, Harrells broke away and won big by a score of 25-14.
The third game was close and saw the scored tied on just about every point up to 10-10, but the Crusaders were able to pull it out on set three by a score of 25-19.
During the fourth and final set, the Crusaders won going away by the score of 25-17.
Harrells coach Regan Murphy was happy with the results and proud of her team for not getting down after giving up the first set of the match.
“I am very proud of the girls. They played hard throughout all of the games and it resulted in a win,” said Murphy.
Sydney Norris had a big day for the Crusaders with 14 kills, 12 digs and three aces. Brenna King had nine kills, seven digs and four blocks. Abigail Clark added seven kills, eight digs and three aces. Kyra Gensel finished with 28 assists.
The 6-4 Crusaders will play at Parrott Academy on Tuesday.
