The Midway volleyball team continued its conference push on Tuesday afternoon as they boosted their latest foe Goldsboro in Spivey’s Corner. The Lady Raiders were clearly the better team as they convincingly won all three sets to maintain their perfect conference record.

In the first set, Midway raced out to a 12-4 lead to prompt a Goldsboro timeout. With the Lady Raiders mixing up the rotation to get everyone involved, the Lady Cougars were able to pull back to within six putting it at 17-11, but Midway closed the set out, 25-15.

Midway once again displayed dominance in the second set, taking an early lead and building it as the game progressed. Goldsboro made a late run at the Lady Raiders, closing to within 19-13, but again Midway went on to win the set 25-15.

Midway made quick work of the Lady Cougars in the third set, winning 25-11 to complete the victory in straight sets.

Leading the way for Midway was Caitlin Holland with 14 serve points, 10 kills and seven aces. Logan Baggett had 12 serve points, Leah Williams added 12 digs, and Mackenzie Chavis finished with nine assists.

With the win, Midway improves to 10-2 overall and 6-0 in the East Central 2A Conference. They are back in action Thursday, hosting Spring Creek.
