The Lady Horses tennis team had played well in the past week, winning its last two matches. They weren’t able to keep the momentum going, falling to the Goldsboro Cougars Monday by the narrowest of margins, 5-4.

The two teams split in singles matches, with Lizzy Tart, Mattie Byrd and Kendall Spell each winning theirs. This brought the match down to doubles which would determine the winner. The Dark Horses could mange to pull off just one doubles victory and dropping two matches. Mattie Byrd and Rebekah Byrd were the winning team combo for Clinton in doubles.

With the loss, the team falls to 3-4 overall and 2-3 in conference. They will be on the road Tuesday, taking on the James Kenan Tigers in conference play.
