The Hobbton Lady Wildcats hosted the Lady Spartans of Union in Tuesday’s volleyball action. It was a good day for the Wildcats as they took the straight-set win over the visiting Spartans.

The scores were 25-23, 25-15 and 25-10. The Wildcats picked up their second win of the season.

“Union came out strong in the first set with their serves,” commented Hobbton coach Tori Reynolds. “Our girls struggled to return those serves. We ended up having to dig deep and battle back in the last few points of the game.”

“In the second set, we found our net game,” Reynolds added. “We got more of our serves in and on point and came out strong. In the third set, We brought it all together and finished it off even stronger.”

Sarah Daughtry had 11 kills, Jada Parker had five kills, Kameron Lee added eight aces, Sarah Suggs and Alexis Bustamante finished with four aces each.

“I’m proud of the way they played,” Reynolds concluded.

The Wildcats record now stands at 2-12 overall and 2-6 in the conference. HHS will travel to Princeton Thursday and host North Duplin Oct. 3.

The Spartans fall to 1-9 overall and remain winless in conference play sitting at 0-7. They have an non-conference game Wednesday as they travel to face off against Pender.
