The Hobbton Wildcat soccer team hosted the Eagles of Rosewood Wednesday afternoon in a conference soccer match. The Wildcats continued their winning ways with a 3-0 shutout of the Eagles.
“I thought we played well in the first half,” commented Hobbton coach Jonathan Jacobs. “We played very well at times, but then we got to where we didn’t play our soccer. We got into playing Rosewood’s style. When we play our style, we are the dominant team. However, when we don’t play our style we get into trouble. I guess that’s what happens when you play a particular style.”
Uriel Cruz picked up two goals against the Eagles and Victor Aguille added one. There were assists by Emanuel Lopez, Aguille and Jair Sanchez.
Jacobs said he was proud of his team’s overall performance against a very defensive Rosewood team.
“I’m proud of my boys; Rosewood always gives us a hard match. They come out and play very well defensively,” Jacobs added. “They are dangerous at times and are well coached. I’m glad to be 2-0 this week. We are getting step by step closer to where we need to be.”
The Wildcats are 9-3-2 on the season and 7-0 in league play. The Eagles fall to 6-7 overall and 4-2 in conference play. The Wildcats host Granville Monday for both JV and varsity.
