The Lady Lions continued their winning streak, pushing the Lions record to 8-1 with a decisive win over the Knights from Liberty Christian. The Lions honored seniors Ashley Hayes and Erynn Sessoms prior to the three-set sweep, 25-12, 26-24 and 25-17.

The Lions were paced by great serving from Sessoms who racked up five aces and added seven kills. Courtney Barber dished out 24 assists. Emma White had five solo blocks and six kills.

“Liberty pressed hard in the second set, and we had to come back,” coach Dan Heinz commented. “Freshman Katelyn Fann came thru with five straight service points tying the score at 23. Erynn Sessoms finished the deal with two aces after the side out to cap the win.”

The 8-1 Lions were scheduled to face off in a rematch against the only team to best team all year, Berean Baptist Academy, on the road Thursday.

Soccer

The Lions men’s soccer team battled to a 4-3 win over Liberty Wednesday.

The Lions were lead by Daniel Mathews, who scored two goals, along with Grant Horne and Josh Davis, who each added one. The coach praised his seniors, including defensemen Jarred Rich and Cameron Knowles, for their leadership and effort.

The senior night win puts the Lions’ soccer record at 5-3. They were on the road for more conference play Thursday, also playing Berean Baptist.
