Lakewood’s lady varsity volleyball team beat Neuse Charter with another 3-0 shutout victory Thursday.

The Leopards currently stand at 13-3 on the season as they continue to roll, winning four straight.

Stats on the night for the Leopards include Briana Wheeler, who had 12 digs; Anna Beth Averette with 12 kills and five aces; Ally Royal with eight kills and four aces; and Krislyn Bullard with 26 assists; and NiDaria Powell with four kills.

“Our middles are producing more. We’ve been working with them a lot,” explained Lakewood assistant coach Morgan Herring. “We have a few things, like communication, to work on, but I think we’re going far this year.”

This would not be Lakewood’s first championship team if they continue as they are now. Davidson has proven herself already as a skilled coach. In the past she’s credited Sampson county programs such as Seeder and LAVA (Lakewood Area Volleyball Association) that allow her to form connections with players before they come to her team, as well as allowing the girls to train during most of the year.

However, with the Leopards losing twice to Midway, it can be noted that Midway may prove to be an obstacle in Lakewood’s plans for another title. Midway stands at 13-2.

The Leopards will be facing off against Union for a second time on Oct. 3.
