The Raiders soccer team took the field Wednesday evening, continuing their conference push at home against the Spring Creek Gators. Midway took control right from the start and defeated the visitors 3-1.

The Raiders scored quick, picking up goal number one at the 38:02 mark in the first half as Jose Osorio notched the goal for Midway’s 1-0 lead. Luis Acosta made it 2-0 in favor of Midway just a few minutes later as he found the back of the net with 30:56 remaining in the half.

Just a couple minutes later, the Gators had a quick spurt of shots on goal to cut into Raiders lead, but Midway goalkeeper Jake Rivera made a flurry of nice saves to preserve the 2-0 lead.

As the half trickled toward an end, Juan Medellin made it 3-0 in favor of the home team with 15:57 remaining in the half. With 7:55 on the clock, Spring Creek finally picked up a goal to make it 3-1 at the half.

No scoring took place in the second half, leaving the final score at 3-1.

With the win, Midway pulls back even on the season with an overall record of of 7-7, but the Raiders still have work to do in the East Central 2A Conference as they sit at just 2-5. Midway will be back on the field on Monday as they travel to Wallace-Rose Hill seeking to avenge a 6-1 loss earlier in the season.
