Horses place in tourney


Catherine Smith took third at the conference tournament in Goldsboro on Tuesday. She won her first match against Brittany Jones of East Duplin, losing in the semifinals to Rachel Johnson of Goldsboro. Smith qualified for the 2A East Regional at Greene Central High School on Oct. 20 at 1 p.m.


Isabella Faison finished fourth in the conference tournament. Faison defeated Keona Hall of Wallace-Rose Hill before falling to Grace Boros of Goldsboro. She then face teammate Catherine Smith who she wasn’t able to prevail against. Faison also qualified for the 2A East Regional next week on Friday in Snow Hill.
