This past weekend, runners from all over gathered in Kernersville to take part in the NC Elites event. The Clinton Dark Horses were among them, having two runners place inside the top 10.

First up to run was the men and Clinton had six runners participating in the event, including Kade Sutton, Charles Jordan, Jared Parker, Greg Monk, Eric Wynn and Robert Smith. The Horses’ men ended up placing sixth with a total score of 134 out of 13 teams overall at NC Elites.

Not only did Clinton place sixth, but they had a runner — Sutton — finish in the top 10, earning himself a medal. Sutton finished in ninth place out of 92 runners with a time of 17:05.23, giving his team nine points.

They had two more runners place in the top 20, including Jordan, who finished 15th place with a time of 17:26.72 earning 14 points and Parker in 16th with a time of 17:29.44 earning 15 points.

The other Dark Horses finishing times were: Monk in 47th at 18:21.11 with 46 points; Wynn in 51th at 18:31.54 with 50 points; and Smith in 86th at 21:49.16, earning 82 points.

The Dark Horses women had only four runners at the NC Elites, resulting in them not being scored for the event due to teh fact they did not have five runners. The runners included Elizabeth Coleman, Maegan Lamb, Ella Faison and Jessica Parker.

Though they didn’t place, the Horses managed to claim another top 10 finish and a medal. This was out of 14 teams and a total of 87 runners for the women.

Coleman was the top 10 runner this go-around, placing eighth for Clinton with her time of 20:54.20. Her performance also landed her among the top 1,000 runners in North Carolina on the TrackHonors Cross Country Honor Roll.

The rest of the Lady Horses finishes were: Lamb placing 32nd at 23:00.91; Faison placing 57th at 25:20.51; and Parker placing 69th at 26:26.37.

The Dark Horses were back in action on Tuesday. They will travel to Spring Creek to take part in the Cross Country Conference Championship.
