Midway crowned East Central champs


Midway defeated Wallace-Rose Hill on Tuesday in dominating fashion, winning in straight sets over the Bulldogs in the conference tournament. None of the sets were close, as Midway easily ended the Bulldogs’ tournament life at 25-11, 25-15 and 25-9. With the win they were poised to face the East Duplin Panthers again, this time for the conference title. The Raiders didn’t disappoint, shutting down the Panthers 3-1. Midway won the first two sets 25-22 and 25-19 before East Duplin fought back in the third, 25-22. The Raiders then closed out the tournament in set four, 25-19. With the East Central Conference tournament victory, Midway finishes the regular season at 20-2 overall and undefeated in the conference at 12-0.
