Clinton’s varsity and JV soccer teams each stayed perfect, and each dismantled the Whiteville Wolfpack on Tuesday, in Whiteville.
Both the varsity and JV teams won by a score of 10-1.
Clinton scored early and often in the varsity match. They were led by Andrew Warren, who scored 3 goals on the night to record a hat trick.
Donald Blue and Ivan Ponce each had big games as well, as they both scored 2 goals.
Luke Byrd, Redin Romero, and Jerod Parker each scored a goal to round out the scoring for the Dark Horses.
Spell Carr and Ivan Ponce each had 3 assists for Clinton on the night, and speedy freshman Peter Darden had three assists to lead the Horses in that category.
Clinton’s head coach, Brad Spell, was once again pleased from his team’s effort, and for good reason.
“I liked the way we played today, and once again, it started by coming out with a positive attitude, and being in the right mindset,” said Spell. “We came down here to Whiteville, and just basically did what we needed to do. We were short three players tonight, between people being sick and people being injured, and we really had some guys come out tonight and step up big for us. We were able to finish the game off early in the second half, and being able to play like we did tonight, it is nice. I am really excited with the way we have been playing, the way we played today, and I’m looking forward to our next game.”
Clinton is back in action on Thursday, when they’ll travel to Erwin to take on the Triton Hawks. The JV game is set to start at 4:30, and the varsity is slated to begin shortly after, so sometime around 6:30.
