Lady Raiders split matches with Princeton

Midway’s volleyball team hosted Princeton Monday night in an endowment game. Princeton is the defending 1A State Champions.

The JV Lady Raiders won their match in two sets, with Rachel Hodges racking up 11 service points, Laura Person showing great hustle, and Logan Baggett continuing to play solid defense on the back line.

The varsity team competed with Princeton, but were ultimately defeated in three sets, by scores of

25-22, 25-20, and 25-18.

“We capitalized on opportunities tonight,” said Midway’s head coach, Jennifer Naylor. “We really competed, and I liked that. Princeton is a strong team and they will be tough to beat again this year. They will go far in the playoffs.”

Hannah Lucas and Taylor Faircloth played big games for MHS on Monday as they led the team in kills, while Leah Williams continued her strong play, as she had 19 digs.

Midway takes on Wallace-Rose Hill on Tuesday, who is 3-0 in conference play on the season. The game is at Wallace-Rose Hill, and JV is set to start at 4:30, with varsity beginning shortly after.
