Midway took on West Bladen on Tuesday for a conference volleyball match. The end result was a Lady Raider sweep of the Lady Knights, giving Midway the road win.

Midway took the first set, 25-12, the second 25-11, and the third 25-13, as the entire evening was a stellar showing for the Lady Raiders, who were always in control of each set.

“Strategies were in place and are in place to improve on the road, and tonight we implemented them,” said Midway head coach Jennifer Naylor following the win.

She mentioned that aggressive play is something that she has been stressing to her team, and she saw that in Tuesday’s win.

“We had some great aggressive play from all of our players I thought. The middles really stood out tonight, and Autumn Byrd had a great game with 25 assists,” she continued.

The JV Lady Raiders continued to show improvement as well on Tuesday, as they won in 2 sets. Rachel Hodges and McKenzie Chavis each had solid games to lead the JV to another win to remain undefeated in conference play.

With the win, the varsity Lady Raiders move to 5-1 in conference play, with their lone loss being to Clinton. They are slated to host Union on Thursday for an in-county show-down. The game will mark the halfway point of the conference season.

The Union at Midway JV game is set to begin at 4:30 p.m., while the varsity is scheduled to start sometime around 6 p.m.
