Last weeks’ picks resulted in a 4-1 record, bringing the season record to 24-7. Heading into the last month of the season, things are starting to shape up in the playoff picture. Clinton continues to dominate conference play and is jockeying for a high seed. Midway and Lakewood are looking to improve their playoff stock, both with games against Duplin County power-houses this week. Union hopes to improve on their 4-3 record against Clinton and Hobbton gets the week off to regroup after a disappointing loss to Princeton.

The Clinton Dark Horses travel south to face the Union Spartans in a cross-county rivalry. The Dark Horses are coming off a shutout of Midway. Clinton’s defense continues to improve and the offense will over power the Spartans defense. Union will be playing their third game in seven days and Clinton will prove to be too much for the weary Spartans.

Final Score: Clinton- 41 Union- 6

Midway travels to Wallace-Rose Hill to face the 6-1 Bulldogs. For the second week in a row, Midway will face a stern test from an experienced team with great speed and much more depth. The Raiders will find it tough to score on the Bulldogs and even tougher to stop the Bulldogs’ high-powered offense. The Bulldogs will put this one away early.

Final Score: Midway- 13 Wallace-Rose Hill- 48

In the Game of the Week, Lakewood goes to Duplin County to face the James Kenan Tigers. The Leopards got a big 47-17 victory last week against Rosewood and look to build on their recent successes. It will be tough for the Leopards to extend their win streak to four against the Tigers. James Kenan’s offense will provide the toughest test for the Leopards defense and offensively, the Leopards will be in an uphill battle to move the football. Look for the Leopards to keep things close in the first half, but too much time on the field will take its toll on the Leopard defense.

Final Score: Lakewood- 20 James Kenan- 35
