The Lakewood Leopards dropped Spring Creek on Thursday in a soccer match-up. Lakewood was dominant for most of the game, that turned out being a 6-4 victory.
Lakewood led 2-1 at halftime, then provided a cushion early in the second before Spring Creek scored a few late goals.
Frances Flores finally came alive, as he has been struggling some lately. He scored 4 goals in an awesome showing and had an assist on the night.
Lloosman Zabala had the other 2 goals for the Leopards, and tallied 2 assists.
Shawn Andrew added 2 assists, and Matt Wuester had one in another solid performance from each of them. The Lakewood defense played well for most of the game, containing a high-powered Gator team.
Pate Holland had another outstanding night in the net, as he racked up 13 saves on 17 shots on goal.
“We played like we are capable of tonight,” explained Lakewood’s head coach, Jay Faircloth after the game. “I can’t say enough about our defense and the job they have been doing. It’s nice for us to get the win and still have something to compete for, we have a chance to finish as high as fourth in conference, so we are gunning for it,” he finished.
Lakewood is now 6-4 in the Carolina 1A Conference. They are 6-7-1 overall, and are set to host an improved Hobbton team on Monday. Hobbton clipped the Leopards 5-1 last time they played, so Lakewood is looking to avenge to loss.
The game is set to begin around 6 p.m.
