With a clear, crisp morning, Hobbton High School hosted the Civitan All-County Cross Country Championships Saturday. The winning women’s team is from Clinton High. The winning men’s team is from Hobbton High.

Scoring for cross country is a bit different from other sports where the higher score wins. In track scoring, the top 5 finishers determine the team total with the lowest score winning. The final score for Hobbton’s men was 28. The individual winner is Charles Jordan of Clinton High with a time of 17:45. Second was Abraheem Alwahishi with a time of 18:39. Sammy Flores of Hobbton finished 3rd with a time of 18:40. Will Warren of Midway was the fourth finisher with a time of 18:41. Rounding out the top five is Kade Sutton of Midway with a time of 18:41. Second and third places went to Clinton and Lakewood respectively.

Clinton’s women placed first with a score of 23. Hobbton finished second with a score of 44; while Midway finished 3rd with a score or 63. Individually, Elizabeth Coleman of Clinton finished with a time of 21:17. Ashley Hinterleiter finished second with a time of 21:22. Kill Kibler of Midway was 3rd with a time of 22:53. Taking 4th was Ella Faison of Clinton with a time of 23?44. Rounding out the top five is Megan Lamb of Clinton with a time of 23:47.

Based on winning Saturday’s event, Elizabeth Coleman and Charles Jordan are the 2015 Civitan All County Athletes of the year for cross country in Sampson County.
