The Midway Middle School girls got a win at home on Monday over Roseboro-Salemburg Middle. The final score was 35-12, in favor of the Lady Raiders.

After leading 15-8 at halftime, the Lady Raiders picked it up a bit in the second half to close out the visitors.

Midway was led by Jeanna Pope, who had 8 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Mikayla Chavis had 7 points and 3 rebounds. Caitlyn Holland, Mikayla Peterson, Kayla Jackson, and Emma Clark each had 4. Sydney Williams had 3 and Maranda Byrd had 1.

For Roseboro-Salemburg, J. Dailey led the way with 5 points, and T. Owens had 3.

Midway’s head coach Selena Joseph was glad to get the win, but thought her team was sloppy at times.

“We struggled early, couldn’t hold onto the ball, and were making some bad decisions. We picked up a little in the second, but we shot free throws poorly, as we were 4-14 from the line. That’s something we’ll work hard on this week,” said the Lady Raider head coach.

Roseboro plays Hobbton on Thursday and the Lady Raiders travel to Coats-Erwin.
