On Monday, the Roseboro-Salemburg Middle School Lady Leopards took their next stop of the season to Midway Middle School to face the undefeated Lady Raiders.

In the end, the Lady Raiders were still undefeated, as they won the game going away, 38-13.

The Lady Raiders struggled shooting the ball from the field until the fourth and final quarter, but they made up for it by playing sound defense and rebounding the ball nicely.

Midway led 10-5 after a quarter, and 17-9 at the break. It was 23-11 after 3 quarters before the home five outscored the visiting squad, 15-2 in the final period of play.

Both teams played aggressively from the get-go, in what really was a scrappy kind of game.

“We got the early lead, and never gave it up,” asserted Midway’s head coach, Selena Joseph. “Both teams played hard and aggressively, and Roseboro-Salemburg is really improving. From an athletic standpoint, they really were able to match our speed. We struggled from the free-throw stripe again, and that is definitely something that we know we have to work on. It’s a good win and we’ll take it.”

Leading Roseboro in scoring was J. Bailey and C. Smith. Bailey scored 4 points and Smith added 3 for the Lady Leopards.

For Midway, Jeanna Pope was a basket away from a double-double, as she had 8 points and 10 rebounds.

Sydney Williams had 6 points and 9 rebounds, to go along with 3 steals and 2 dimes. Caitlyn Holland had 5 points and a great defensive game with 9 steals.

Mikayla Peterson, Emma Clark, and Kaitlyn Spell each scored 4 points for Midway.

Midway is set to travel to Union Middle on Thursday to try to keep their unbeaten year going. Roseboro-Salemburg is open on Thursday, but are set to play in the conference tournament that begins on Feb 8 for a play-in game.

The conference tournament semi-finals are set to be played on Feb 11., and the conference championship is set for Feb. 17. This year, the semi-finals and championship game are set to be played at Midway Middle.
