The Clinton High School Dark Horses got a solid win at home on Tuesday when the Union Spartans visited town. It was a dominating performance, as the home team dropped the visiting squad, 84-54.

JJ Robertson made 5 3-pointers in route to a game-high 17 points. Jaquan McLean made 3 3’s of his own to score 13 points, Jeremiah Pope scored 12, and Brequan Bryant scored 11.

Clinton made a staggering amount of shots from the outside, including 16 3-pointers. Union had no answer for them on a night in which they simply shot the lights out.

“We started some different guys tonight, and they set the tone early for us,” said Randy Jordan, head coach of Clinton. “Everyone played and gave us good minutes tonight,” continued Jordan. “We are looking forward to a big game at West Bladen on Friday night, and if we win out, and get some help, we could still win the conference. It’s fun to be playing our best basketball at this time of the year.”

Union was led by Sam Crumpler’s 18 points and Donte Chavious scored 11 for the Spartans.

Clinton, now 14-6 and 9-2 in conference, is set for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off against West Bladen in Bladenboro on Friday.
