The Clinton Dark Horses men’s tennis team opened their season with two wins this past week. The Dark Horses got the season off on the right foot with a pair of non-conference wins. On Wednesday the Dark Horses traveled to Smithfield Selma and then returned home to face traditional power Greene Central on Thursday afternoon.
Clinton opened the season with a double-header win at Smithfield Selma on Wednesday by scores of 6-3 and 6-2. Winning singles matches for the Dark Horses were Zach Darden, Jared Hall, Luke Swartz, and Turner Wells. Doubles matches were won by the teams of John Fox with Jared Hall, Zach Darden with Tyler Kersey, and Luke Swartz with Turner Wells.
The Dark Horses returned home on Thursday afternoon and defeated the Greene Central Rams by a count of 6-2. Winning singles matches for the Dark Horses were Zach Darden, Luke Swartz, Peter Darden, and Turner Wells. Winning doubles matches were John Fox with Jared Hall and Peter Darden with Turner Wells.
Clinton is 3-0 on the young season and will travel to Triton next Tuesday for a non-conference doubleheader beginning at 4 o’clock.
