The Midway soccer team continued its winning ways on Friday night, earning a 5-0 win over the visiting Lady Knights of Trask.

The first half remained scoreless for much of the way, with both teams seemingly locked in a defensive battle.

Action went back and forth until Midway finally snagged a goal, as Addison Apperson found the back of the net with 6:09 left in the first half.

That score would hold the remainder of the half.

The second half would prove to be much different than the first, as Midway exploded for four more goals.

The Lady Raiders quickly extended their lead early in the second half. With 39:00 left, Kasey McLamb made it 2-0, finding the back of the net off the assist by Kimberly O’Brien.

Addison Apperson notched her second goal of the game, pushing Midway’s lead to 3-0 with 29:56.

The lead grew to 4-0 with 18:20 left, this time off the foot of Olivia Davis and the assist by Anna Apperson.

Addison Apperson continued her big game with 6:53 left, picking up her third goal of the game, bringing the game to the final score of 5-0.

Head coach Trey Apperson was pleased with the victory. “I thought we played well overall, especially in the second half, where we were able to score a couple quick goals, and get contributions from everyone.”

Apperson also praised his opponent. “Trask started out with a lot of energy and it took us a little while to get going,” he said. “With about 15 minutes left in the first half, we settled down and started to control the play.”

With the victory, Midway improves to 8-3 overall and 4-2 in the Four County Conference.

They return to action on Tuesday night when they travel to East Bladen at 6 p.m.

They are back at home on Wednesday night, hosting Union. That game is also set for 6 p.m.
