The Midway softball team resumed action in the Four County Conference on Friday night, hosting the Lady Titans of Trask. A combination of Midway miscues and a dominant defensive effort by Trask would jolt the Lady Titans to 9-0 triumph over the Lady Raiders.

Trask set the tone in the top of the first inning, racing out to a 5-0 lead. Four of those runs, however, were aided by two Midway errors. In the bottom of the inning, Trask showed that they were going to be tough defensively as well, holding Midway scoreless following two strikeouts and a ground out.

After a couple of scoreless innings, Trask again was aided by a series of Midway errors in adding a run, to rush their lead to 6-0.

In the top of the seventh inning, Trask added three more runs on two more Midway errors to reach the final tally of 9-0.

Offensively, Midway was held to three hits on the night. Hannah Lucas, JJ Sankey, and Leah Williams each recorded one hit as Trask pitcher AJ Johnson kept the Lady Raiders off key all night.

Following the game, Midway head coach Leigh Ann Smith was unavailable for comment.

Midway returns to action Tuesday night as the travel to East Bladen for a 6 p.m. start.

They return to home action on Wednesday, hosting Union.
