The Mintz Lions had trouble stringing together hits to push runners across early on in their game against Antioch Christian last week.
The home team trailed 4-1 in the bottom of the 6th, as Daniel Matthews was able to work a walk with the bases loaded. Then, with two down, Dillon Pilkington put the Lions in the lead, 6-4, with a clutch-hitting Grand Slam. They would go on to win by striking out the side in the seventh.
The Lions were aided by great pitching performances from Evan Plant, Josh Davis, and Dillon Pilkington. Plant went 4.1 innings, giving up 4 hits, and putting up 5 strikeouts. Davis came in middle relief to hold Antioch to only one run with the bases loaded in the fifth. Pilkington stepped up to pitch the final two innings, stopping the Gators in their tracks.
The Lions are currently 3-1 in the conference and hope to continue winning streak as they travel to Columbus Christian in Whiteville, Monday April 25.
