In the conclusion of a game started last Thursday before a severe hail storm halted play, the Hobbton Lady Wildcats picked up right where they left off, taming the James Kenan Lady Tigers with a mercy rule 17-0 win after 5 innings.

For the Wildcats, Sara Suggs had 5 strikeouts on the mound, while Caitlyn Stegal, who came in during the 4th had 2 strikeouts. The Lady Wildcats played stellar defense holding the Tigers to 0 hits. Many of the Wildcats’ base-runners came via walks, with a few hits sprinkled in throughout the lineup.

Wildcat coach Andie Faircloth was proud of the way her girls played. “My pitchers did a good job and Megan Parker worked hard behind the plate,” said Faircloth. “We are looking forward to the rest of the season and hope to finish strong and maybe make the playoffs.”

The 9-7 Wildcats host North Duplin Tuesday night for senior, weather permitting, and travel to Lakewood Thursday night for the final game of the season.
