The Lady Midway Raiders traveled across the county to face off against the Lady Spartans on the soccer field. The Lady Spartans celebrated their senior night and celebrated six players that have been very important parts of the team. The Lady Spartan seniors include Ne’Lexus Jones, Brianna Fredrick, Destiny Robinson, Paola Sevilla, Maria Subias-Gonzalez, and Skye Page. However, the Lady Raiders got the best of the Lady Spartans on Thursday night, winning the game, 9-2.
The first half started out slow neither team managing to find the net. The Lady Spartans were actually the first to score from a shot by Paola Sevilla at the 13:20 mark. Then Brianna Fredrick followed Sevilla up at the 11:08 mark with a score. With the Lady Spartans having a 2-0 lead, the Lady Raiders adjusted and it proved to work as they then scored 8 of their 9 goals; the first occurring at the 10:40 mark all the way till the eighth at 2:45.
Little action occurred in the second half of the game. With the big Lady Raider lead, their defense proved enough as they shut out the Lady Spartans in the second half. However, the Lady Spartans continued to play hard, only allowing Midway to find the net one time in the second half at the 34:09 mark. Still, the Lady Raiders had gained such a big advantage at the end of the first half, it proved too much for the Lady Spartans.
The Lady Raiders will celebrate their senior night Friday as they take on the Lady West Bladen Knights while the Lady Spartans will travel to take the field against the Lady East Bladen Eagles.
